Lisa's Gorgeous Necklaces

Last week I had Lisa Kay remake a necklace a friend of mine had broken. She was in love with it so it needed a skilled hand to restore! Lisa is a handmade jewellery expert. I love the feminie charm she puts in her work, like this Black Onyx Flower Necklace.

This was the first time I'd had Lisa do any work for me and I was impressed by how fast and efficient she was. She restrung a handmade necklace, painstakingly refitting all the fresh water pearls as per the original befoe finishing it with a new clasp. It was a fantastic job and I would have no hestation in using her services again. Lisa's site is worth a look at, it's full of delightful and individual pieces. See Lisa's Jewels.co.uk

Get the celebrity look with layered necklaces

Layering necklaces is one of the big trends this season and Hollywood's celebs have all been out showing the sytle and creative prowess. Hilary Swank rocks the million-dollar look with layered rhinestone necklaces whilst Paris Hilton takes a pearl necklace and makes it young and playful with a fun retro twist. In each and every look, notice how the necklaces are used as 'the icing on the cake' so to speak. Colours and sizes work with the top to build that A-list look.

Take a peek at iVillage's trend spotter and get inspired with this red carpet necklace photo special.

What is The Sparkly Spotlight?

The Sparkly Spotlight came about for a couple of reasons. Having sold jewellery on the internet for a number of years, I've had the chance to speak with a lot of my clients who've become regulars. And they gave me a really divided view on the subject of new collections.

The problem was this - pretty much everyone loved it when I released a new jewellery collection. However I'm not a "clock work" business like high street retailers. Sometimes it takes time to have the new necklaces produced and I'm not the type to get furrowed brows lightly! Consequently people never knew when I was releasing new jewellery and so we spoke about how I could keep them informed. Some loved the idea of an email newsletter. Others seem to have had their inbox violated by unscrupulous spammers. The thought of extra email to them was more headache.

And so into the void stepped The Sparkly Spotlight, a blog in which I'll keep those interested informed of my latest offers and new collections. I'll also be able to share with you some ideas and inspirations for getting the most out of your looks with jewellery. I'm quite excited about it as it's a first for me so please do comment on any posts and tell me if it's useful or if I could improve it. It'll be good for me if you can let me know what I can do better.
